At Ash Flat Healthcare and Rehab, every resident brings with them a story worth honoring. One of those stories belongs to Alfred Garcia—affectionately known to many as Alfredo or simply Mr. Garcia.
Mr. Garcia proudly served in the United States Army, enlisting on June 10, 1969. During his two years of service, which concluded on June 9, 1971, he demonstrated courage and dedication that earned him several military medals, including a Bronze Star. His service is a source of pride not only for him, but for all of us who have the privilege of caring for him today.
Mr. Garcia first came to Ash Flat Healthcare and Rehab for a couple of respite stays, where our team had the opportunity to get to know him and his personality. On May 22, 2025, he officially joined our community for long-term care. From the beginning, he made it clear how much comfort and confidence he felt here.
“If I can’t be at home,” Mr. Garcia shared, “this is home to me now.”
Those words mean everything to our team.
Known for his sense of humor, Mr. Garcia loves to joke around with staff and fellow residents alike. His laughter is contagious and his presence brings light to those around him. He often expresses how happy he is here and how well he feels cared for—something our caregivers take great pride in.
At Ash Flat Healthcare and Rehab, our mission is to ensure every resident feels respected, supported, and truly at home. Mr. Garcia’s story is a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do: to honor lives of service, provide compassionate care, and create a place where everyone belongs.
We are grateful to have Mr. Garcia as part of our Ash Flat family—and even more grateful for the service and spirit he continues to share with us every day.
